Graded Track Walks

Warrie Circuit:
17kms The Warrie circuit is the best walk in Springbrook region. There are many cascading waterfalls along the route and a wide variety of vegetation types. The best location to start the walk is either from Tallanbana picnic area or Canyon Lookout.

Purling Brook Falls:
4kms When walking this track it is good to combine Warringa Pool, a short distance down a track along the west branch of the Little Nerang River.

Best of All Lookout (700m return)
Turn off the Springbrook road on to the Repeater Station Road and continue along it to the lookout car park (4kms). Follow the track out to the lookout. There are some stands of antarctic beech trees along the way and close to the lookout there is evidence of aboriginal activity. It is interesting to note that the lookout is actually in NSW.

Off Track Walks (Experienced Bushwalkers Only)

The Pinnacle
Standing alone, the Pinnacle ( map ref 290 801, 626m) is a short walk along the ridge tops. Bushwalking clubs normally combine the Pinnacle with the Warrie Circuit to make a full days walk. The walk is approximately 2hrs return.

When walking anti-clockwise along the Warrie Circuit, prior to descending the Nimmel Range proper, keep to the ridge top. There is an obvious pad along the ridge top out to the Pinnacle.

Little Nerang River (West branch)
An old graded track system used to follow the west branch down to the Little Nerang Dam. From Warringa pool above the falls and old pad is picked up on the opposite bank.
While this old graded track hasn't been maintained for a long time it is
easily followed for most of the way. There are tree falls and some
regrowth along the track.

Nerang Rivers (Extended walk)

This 2 day extended walk involves traveling down the west branch and returning by the east branch of the Little Nerang Rivers. While there are no real navigational problems, rock hopping up the east branch may be slow. On the lower reaches of the west branch it is better to head up over the ridge to avoid the swampy vegetation of the dam waters.. If in trouble along the east branch, it may be better to gain the ridge between the rivers and walk back along it.

Natural Arch

Natural Bridge - Springbrook National Park

Imagine an imposing stone bridge - carved not by human hands, but by water over thousands of years. With a sparkling stream below, and lush rainforest around, Natural Bridge is one of the most popular parts of 2954ha Springbrook National Park.

Natural Bridge (also called Natural Arch) nestles in the scenic Numinbah Valley near the Queensland-New South Wales border. See the picturesque rock formation, stroll through subtropical rainforest and have a bush picnic.

Underneath the bridge lives a colony of glowworms, tiny stars in the dark.

Natural Bridge is about an hour's drive from the Gold Coast or two from Brisbane. In a day you can also visit more of Springbrook National Park and Lamington National Park, or cross the border to New South Wales parks.

Together, these parks are the heart of the Central Eastern Rainforest Reserves (Australia) World Heritage Area. Tamborine National Park is also close.

Purlingbrook Falls

Worth the trip to Springbrook just to see the falls particularly in the wet
season when it is an inspiring sight . The falls plunge more than 100m into a gorge filled with palms ferntrees and lilies.

Lookouts are located on either side of the head of the falls, and longer walking tracks that pass under the falls and down to the Waringa rock pool which is a favourite swimming hole frequented by locals & tourists alike.
